BLOGISHNESS...
Charity, Musicality, Homebrewtality!
Thanks to all those who attended Brewminosity, sampling suds and supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, with over $1500 raised! Rolling off our recent appearance at PourMania, The Homebrewsicians (scroll down for videos) are gearing up for yet another set this coming Saturday October 22nd at the NYC Brewers Guild fall fund raiser, Blocktoberfest. In other news, MRC Brooklyn just home from our Fall field trip to KCBC will have our regular monthly run Saturday November 5th the day before the NYC Marathon which we will then cheer for on Sunday the 6th right outside our home base at Strong Rope.
MMM... Hops
Hops, Hops, HOPS! The hops don't stop, 'til the last hop drops, and fresh hops make a beer pop! The homegrown hop harvest was quite solid this year, yielding 4 pounds of cascade and 2.5+ pounds of Mags/Nugs, so a Wet Hop BRYEttish Pale and Rye Saison are in the works. Luckily a Lichtenhainer and Radler are on tap while I scramble to brew a Brett IPA, Gose, and Mole Porter for some fall festivities.
Happy New Beers!
This year is off to a bubbling start with all fermenters on full blast as we gear up for a slew of winter beer events and competitions. I'm churning out everything from easy drinking kettle sours to bold and roasty American stouts, with a rauchbier and tropical IPA thrown in for good measure! So come on out to one of the upcoming events to taste some for yourself. If you've made a resolution to get in shape, you can still do so with beer because, we're still running and drinking through the winter with MRC Brooklyn, and there will be more destination runs and rides to come when the weather warms. For now, just brace yourselves for the coming onslaught of February Craft Beer & Homebrew Events... I hope to see you up and about, but if you can't make it out, be sure to follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to enjoy all the beery sights and delights.
November Lineup Rundown:
November has a lineup that's hard to contend with... After NYC Marathon Madness dies down, come get a recovery run (and a refreshing free beer) in with the MRC Brooklyn on Saturday Nov 7th and the first Saturday of every month for that matter! Then on Sunday Nov 15th it's all about the beer, but you're more than welcome - even encouraged - to talk running, over a few beers brewed by runners at the fall edition of Brew, Run, Drink! with athletically aimed ales like DRye Fit, a locally hopped rye amber ale, and Track Smoke, to keep you tipsy on your toes on through the winter. Finally, roll up your sleeves and get your hands in on some behind the scenes action at the last BrewTorial of the year, in which we'll brew up a batch of Chocolate Porter that should be ready for Holiday sipping.
NYC Beer Week Recap:
Logger SMaSH Kumquats! disappeared in just a few hours alongside the Jamborator at Jimmy's Homebrew Jamboree and Brewnity put a major dent in both Sweet Maria's Magic Mojo and Black Smoke the following afternoon. I'm so honored and proud that they were all well received with rave reviews... and that the Homebrewsicians were allowed to drown out the craft beer clamor for a few minutes with a handful of brewsical renditions of some classic hits.
Fall Fun Recap:
Big Thanks to all those who attended the 2015 Fall edition of Brew, Run, DRINK! and helped raise a few bucks for DWRT and Back on My Feet. We took a wacky interactive theatrical journey though the evolution of information technology while tasting a Belgian wheat beer brewed with beets at the BEAT Brooklyn Festival. Experienced groundbreaking musical performances by the Momenta Quartet backed by a custom beer brewed for each concert at the Momenta Festival. And Brewed a helluvalotta beer for upcoming November Events.
